About Us
Founded in 1951, the Marine Prop Riders club has been dedicated to promoting Inboard Hydroplane Racing throughout the Detroit region. Our vibrant community includes drivers and boat owners of all ages—from enthusiastic teens to seasoned racers in their 70s.
Our members compete across a wide spectrum of racing classes, from the nimble 1.0 Liter Hydros to the thunderous, supercharged Grand Prix Hydros. We’re also proud to host the iconic Unlimited Hydroplanes, which race in the prestigious APBA Gold Cup on the Detroit River.
In addition to modern racing, our club celebrates the sport’s rich history through the Vintage class, where members showcase beautifully restored race boats in exhibition laps—bringing the golden era of hydroplane racing back to life.

Welcomes new members and keeps our community strong, handling recruitment, renewals, and member engagement.
Entertainment Chair – Dillon Goodell
Brings the fun! Organizes social events, coordinates vendors and entertainers, and keeps the club engaged and energized.
